Peaceful progress
Dear Friends,
As a newcomer to the peace forum I would give my background for your information in relating to the following findings from experience of working with young people siince 1974. As skipper of a training ship a project of working with ant-social young people at sea revealed many answers to the human behaviour pattern of those aboard and the reasons for their behaviour as they returned throughout the year. The work continues to day with other volunteers taking part. Distilled from this working experience of reality came an understanding of the great need of spirituality in an individual's make up to fulfill and develop a life designed to enable greater understanding. The following is written from experiences that I trust can be considered by you as a way to peace at this time, starting with ourselves and joining with others to seek peace in this new Millenium..

The essential thinking required to day is that we should think and act globally for peace and not be constrained by our national identity - good as it is, to serve essential purposes. However is it not true that we are all one people and when our neighbours suffer do we not see through our new communication systems of this age and try to alleviate their suffering if we can? We often try to understand why we can allow the killing and suffering of our own world family of brothers, sisters and children then placate ourselves, by making the excuse of blaming others.

Something is missing in our make up to live in a world where all this happens. We are told that the human being is made up of body, mind and spirit. What if we find in our searching for the truth that our spiritual side is non-existent within us? Our own failing can come through practicing selfish materialism. Collecting riches and the greed for power leads us into wars and the terrible suffering of peoples’ ensues. To day, we are indeed primitive with little knowledge other than that of a disturbed child, compared with the greater understanding of our inherent make-up of human beings that is mystical for good reason.

Our transient gift of an expected life span is so necessary in enabling change to take place. The speed of change can however be accelerated by being aware of the metaphysical workings of the spirit that recognizes all individuals regardless of their nationality, position or situation in life. The spirit often breaks through to give comfort and guidance to enable the human individual to understand reality. When people to day stand up in their spiritual fight against injustice and corruption, they can now be supported by everyone else as we have the social communications networks to do so and not leave it for others to endlessly debate, as many are spiritually blind themselves.
