    How many courses ?
Let's say in a more or less formal dinner (but not a gourmet one), how many courses you'll get in your country ?

    Down in Italy we have:

    antipasto (starter)
    primo piatto (simply 1st course)
secondo piatto (somebody says main course)
formaggio or dessert (cheese or dessert)
    coffee
    grappa or any other spirit

for a total of 6 ... what about you ?

    ciao

    Re: How many courses ?
I'm living in the french-speaking part of Switzerland, just opposite the french border, so here we would have for a more or less formal dinner:

Mise-en-bouche ( very small appetizer, offered by the restaurant )
    Entrée ( entry )
Plat principal ( main course )
    Fromage ( cheese, very french ! )
    Déssert ( desert )
    Café & Digestif

I must admit that i mostly skip the cheese-course, it's just too much all together.

    Have a nice day.
