After the first captivating round of Ralf Friedrich's experiment about the improvement of virtual team work , a new round of the VT experiment will be starting soon. The first round took place with participants from more than 22 countries, and despite the high effort of time judged as a unique and very worthful experience by most participants.
Participants are invited to look forward to an exciting tour de force into and through the global project team world, can look out for PDU's and rely on an expanded network of structural and individual support for all participants.
„What exactly happens in virtual project teams, is, up to know, largely unknown“, states Ralf Friedrich, managing partner of GeProS and head of the experiment. "This experiment will help us to discover correlations within the processes of the virtual teams and enable us to forecast performance.“
The experiment will research the productivity of virtual teams and what are the key drivers in virtual teams.
This event will cover 3 months, starting 19 January 2010 and demand appr. 60 hours of commitment over the whole time.
Participants will be grouped into international teams and work on a project that is to be delivered within 12 weeks, the creation of a small web portal. To make communication more easy, they will work with avatars, virtual representatives in the virtual world Second Life. As a matter of course they will get to know new methodic approaches in virtual project management. .Participants will receive a certificate and PDU's. For the extended support we charge a contribution fee of 99,- Euro for the whole period.
Based on all the lessons learned, Ralf Friedrich created a completely new version of the experiment to create even a higher value for the participants:
1. All participants will receive a 2-year free membership in our Virtual International Project Manager Club. Entry to the club is only possible through an active participation in the virtual team experiment.
2. For the next round of the experiment we partner with STS, a swiss-based training company. They have developed an innovative training solution for virtual teams and all our participants are granted free access to the beta-version of their virtual team simulator.
3. Also, they will have access to an innovative collaborative virtual team tool developed by VEA. This will allow for good meeting management and follow-up of action items.
4. Our Learning Management System will be adapted and all participants will receive an environment which supports the experiment.
5. And of course they will be granted the benefits of the Virtual International Project Manager Club: Three 30 minutes virtual coaching session each year and six free webinars and 20% discount on our eSeminars.... and the most valuable: Being part of a lively virtual community.
The experiment will research the productivity of virtual teams and what are the key drivers in virtual teams.
