Actually, I don't work with Pentaho...
... but I've been working with WEKA since 2001 within R&D projects, have contributed practically all my published machine learning algorithms to WEKA, and have written a command line introduction quite a few years back. I've used WEKA in talks, demos, for teaching, for research, for practically all things that can be done with machine learning ,including image analysis, audio classification and neurobiological basic research . I've even ported an old version to my PDA and take it around with me at all times. It was fun showing this off when I met most of the developers of WEKA in Australia at a conference. Short: I'm a fan. ;-)

So Open Source has gone business in various ways in these past years, and when Pentaho bought WEKA, I was instantly more sympathetic to them than to the local competition - first, they actually supported the Univ. of Waikato financially and hired some people from there... instead of just incorporating the WEKA source code with scarcely a mention; second, you could talk with them and connect, and even find out some interesting facts.

Pentaho is an interesting product, and I wish it success in Europe. I'd be glad to offer my expertise in this forum, but will only be able to read it about once per week. Please contact me directly if it is more urgent.

For this forum, I should translate my motto. It means "We begin where others give up", and I mean it.

More details can be found on my webpage, which is currently only in German. But my research pages at alex.seewald.at are also available, and all of them are in English.

Now I really need to get back to work. See you, all!
