    Hi,

i'd like to introduce myself to the community with a quick summary of what i've been doing with Pentaho so far.

My work focusses on Business Process Management and Corporate Performance Measurement.

For this reason i started a 'proof of concept' in the beginning of 2008 utilizing Kettle as data integration platform for gaining business process related performance data from various source systems.

I quickly had to realize, that Pentaho doesn't focus on data/application integration (e.g. no integrated XSLT engine, no application adapters).

So my experiences are somewhat rudimentary, but i see pentaho as a solution with high potential for some of our smaller projects with BI focus.

From this community i hope to learn more of what you can do with pentaho and gain some insight in projects that have been realized with pentaho.

    Cheers,
    Jens

    Hi Jens,

    thanks for your introduction!

Before I started at Pentaho last year mid 2007, I worked for the Pentaho partner Proratio and did some projects in this field. E.g. integrate a web application via XML files to SAP and trigger the generation of customer quotations via Kettle and BAPIS to SAP.
It was a custom made plug-in and did not found the way to open-source ;-(

XSL Transformations are available as a job entry since Kettle 3.0 ... better organized in the XML category and therefor easier to find in the upcoming 3.1GA. ;-)

Some more plug-ins (e.g. an adapter for Salesforce) can be found over here:
    http://wiki.pentaho.com/display/EAI/List+of+Available+Pentah...

When there is some need for a special adapter, it's pretty easy to create a custom made plug-in. When you have questions about this, let me know and I can help out with more information.

Also, we are very interested in your needs - so feel free to create a feature request for anything that is missing:

Hope this helps - greetings from Jens to Jens
