Having hired many people in the past, I must admit that one of the best predictors of someone being a great hire is authenticity. Someone who is authentic will make the right decisions: balance priorities, hire someone equally authentic (replicate excellence), and remain a good team player.
I just provided a reference to my former colleague who shared an interesting experienc with me. After all interviews were completed, he was asked take a series of tests. The recruiter explained that these tests are primarily intended to determine "fit". These tests were administered by an outside firm.
Several years ago, one of the companies I worked for asked all senior managers to attend a one day coaching and development workshop. This workshop was actually fun but did include a series of tests in the beginning.
It seems that some companies are beginning to use psychological tests as an additional filter to select candidates.
I am very interested in everyone's thoughts. Do these tests work?
