The National Commission for Economic Projection (CNP) estimates in 2009 a real decrease in the gross domestic product (GDP) of 4 percent, with the GDP being appraised at 531.251 billion lei (some 123.54 billion euros), according to the medium term spring forecast for 2009-2013 carried by the National Economic Projection Commission on April 30.
In the previous forecast, released in January, the National Economic Projection Commission had estimated a growth in the GDP of 2.5 percent for this year.
According to CNP, the economic growth will rebound in the next years, with forecasts standing at 0.1 percent of the GDP in 2010, 2.4 percent in 2011, 3.7 percent in 2012 and 4.4 percent in 2013, all the figures being, however, lower than the previous forecasts.
At the beginning of this year, the National Economic Projection Commission had revised downwards the estimate on economic growth in 2008, to 7.9 percent from 9.1 percent, as estimated in its long-term autumn forecast for 2008-2020.
