First a little history about myself. I have a degree in Science education and spent three years teaching in a High School environment. Although I enjoyed that experience a friend of mine offered me the chance to work with him in Environmental and Civil Engineering for a summer job. I spent the next 7 years working in that field.
Due to reasons I will not go into here, I left that field and entered the banking and finance field, where I quickly worked my way up do to a ability to sell various banking products. I worked with management to create several programs, trained and supervised a variety of employees as well as a variety of other duties.
However I wished to be more independent and accepted a job with a Marketing firm, where I learned much but was generally unhappy.
Currently I am self employed (and have been for over a year), working with a publishing company and recently ended a good relationship with a winery where I sold their product online through the new medium of virtual worlds (progams like
http://www.secondlife.com). I beleive that the use of virtual worlds will only continue to grow and the future of advertising and marketing lies there.
I find myself wishing to either move to the southern USA or overseas to Europe, and wish to work for a marketing company that allows some creative freedom and believes like I do. That programs like Second Life are the "next wave" in the industry.
Now, frankly my question is this. How do I go about finding a marketing company willing to take a risk on someone with the above history? Is it worth looking for a head hunter?
