Since a couple of months, I am a member of Twine (
http://www.twine.com/), a so-called semantic web application/platform. So, it is quite natural that there are a lot of semantic web adepts present. One of the things some of them claim is that the next thing in search engines is semantic awareness and that making your site readable by semantic search engines should be an essential part of your SEO strategy.
However, what I’ve seen until now as for practical examples does not really convince me. A lot of additional complexity for an unknown result.
So, I am interested hearing how the SEO folks here think about these matters. Is this really something that already makes sense? Any suggested approaches or tools?

I would personally say that all those things are utter BS.
Excuse my language, but they're just rumours being spread by developers who are trying to popularize their own website.
The traditional search engines were, are and will always be in power. You might be missing out on maybe 0.05% of visitors to your website by not making it readable to these Search engines but that is absolutely no loss, trust me :)
