Important Announcement to all members of Serbia & Westbalkan: Information- and Businessforum
Serbian Institute for Public Diplomacy applied with the project “Diaspora Node in Brussels” on the Open call for proposals of the Ministry for Diaspora of the Republic of Serbia

It is beyond any doubt that Brussels today represents the political centre of Europe where all the European institutions and organizations as well as NATO have established their headquarters. Moreover, various regional representations, European agencies and corporate world, in addition to numerous lobby groups are actively present in the Brussels arena. Being aware of both Brussels challenges and certainly its potentials for representing Serbian political, economic and cultural interests, Serbian Institute for Public Diplomacy in Brussels proposed the project Serbian "Diaspora Node in Brussels" as a link for operational integration and active involvement of Serbian Diaspora to the EU economy and policy development, and bringing Serbia closer to the same. With this project Serbian Institute initiated the creation of innovative and trustworthy environment, putting forward the engagement of Serbian professionals and intellectuals both in the country and abroad, while at the same time facilitating the input and active involvement of their EU counterparts.

The Diaspora node in Brussels (Serbian Institute for Public Diplomacy) http://www.serbianinstitute.org has invested actively during the last two and a half years to create a set of connections across Serbians (mostly young professionals) living in Belgium and various other European countries, and towards the EU institutions. This project aims to put a new dimension to the already established set-up and add a new value to the strategic efforts of the Ministry for Diaspora. The projects also aims to put its benefits at disposal to the wider audience of Serbs both abroad and in their motherland as well as in the EU arena. By use of modern communication vehicles- Internet information exchange tools like Xing Serbian Group, the Brussels node is strongly connected to other nodes, e.g. the Paris node and furthermore the Swedish, Austrian, German and other expatriate communities, thus creating the necessary innovative environment for their active involvement. In addition, the Brussels node has strong networking contacts directly with Serbian decision makers, both public and private, which all together can lead to efficient project incubation.

We are looking forward to the results of the Ministry for Diaspora call for proposals. We are hoping to see Serbian Institute getting a chance to add a more systematic and methodical dimension to its past initiatives in the heart of Europe, with the support of the Ministry for Diaspora.

At the same time we are bringing to your attention the need of assisting the Serbian Institute for Public Diplomacy in its thorny path of endorsement of Serbian, and indeed European values. Your assistance is necessary and it can include:

    *
Important - sending affirmative articles about Serbia/ and especially cooperation of Serbian and EU entities
    *
Crucial - expanding the number of members (annual membership fee - 50 EUR per person)
    *
    Desirable - sponsoring/ donating (300 EUR per organization/ business entity )

Your benefits as our member/ donor/ sponsor are manifold and they include:

    · Cost-effectiveness guaranteed by a small core staff relying on strong strategic partnership with public and private organizations that provide both input in terms of research and administering larger initiatives.

    · Brussels presence, as a logical, strategic move to demonstrate the European dimension of the Serbian interests

    · Acting independently from other regional and state representations and lobby groups in Brussels arena with expertise and knowledge to recognize project potentials specifically targeted at improving the economic position of Serbian interests in EU and other European countries, while at the same time involving local Serbian partners

    · Facilitating informal relations among key players across Europe (and even further) that do not often have a chance to exchange views and experiences in an unofficial and off-the-record capacity. In this way, the Diaspora Node in Brussels serves as an added value to the official, traditional diplomatic efforts of our country in Brussels

    · Project "Incubation" i.e. identifying necessary new initiatives related to our programmatic fields of activity. The Brussels Diaspora Node assists in finding relevant managing bodies as well as funding for the projects realisation.
