Sking / Snowboarding over the Summer in the Geneva region
    Hi all,

Is there a glacier in the Geneva, Switzerland region on which it is possible to Ski and Snowboard over the summer? If yes, has andybody made any experiences with that (is it worthwhile or is the snow very icy/slushy)?

    Thanks,

    Marcel

    Hi Marcel,
your closest option is Les Diablerets.
    Here is the link:

    http://www.glacier3000.ch/en/Summer/

Conditions vary. Currently the snow is not bad for end of June, according information received. XC-skiers even spoke of very good conditions. Looking on the webcam the pictures confirm these statements.
The runs are not too challenging - but if you are really snow-sick, it makes you feel better.

Next are Verbier, Saas-Fee and Zermatt. They go up higher (3.4 -3.8) and give you more vertical drop, length and steepness.
Means, getting up one hour earlier in the morning might pay off, provided you are in good shape for the altitude.

Maybe, starting one weekend in Les Diab and going then to the upper world, might be a good choice.
Not to forget: Get informed before about Glacier skiing in general.

    Enjoy

    Dear Marcel,

Saas Fee and Zermatt are really nice, Saas Fee small but unique between the big and high Mountains and just in case that you like to ride a good fun park than I would try Saas Fee. Zermatt is awsome as well and you can get up to 3890m on the top of the "Klein Matterhorn". If you have time, I would try both areas maybe over a long weekend.

I wish you a good time in the mountains and then of course in the winter time ;) !!

    Best regards from Munich

    Daniel
