    Daffodil Fargis: a Second Life educator
    Hi all

    I've been a member of this group for a while now but never managed to introduce myself. Shame on me! So, here I go:

    I'm a Real Life and Second Life English language teacher with a Cambridge University Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults. In both lives, I am passionate about learning and sharing what I know. I believe that, like in all professions, an educator needs to know about the theory and past developments of her subject as well as keep up with new developments. In my case, this is more a pleasure than a burden because I have chosen teaching as a second career because love it and I like technology and the Internet.

    Besides web 2.0, 3D virtual environments like Second Life are exciting tools that can enhance language learning. I say "can" because they are quite new and educators are still experimenting with them. This is why I called my blog about Teaching in Second Life "SLExperiments".     I have recently moderated an online session for language teachers called "Virtual Worlds & Language Learning" with three colleagues attended by more than 200 teachers worldwide, which shows that the interest is huge.

    I'm also the co-founder of a group for language teachers in Second Life to help language teachers in-world connect, share knowledge and discuss SL language pedagogy because I believe that tools (like SL) are only as good as the teachers who use them.

    Falls jemand daran interessiert ist Sprachen in Second Life zu lernen (ich selbst unterrichte vor allem English) oder daran Sprachen zu unterrichten und meine englische Vorstellung oben gerne auch auf deutsch lesen würde, kann sich gerne bei mir melden und ich hole das nach :-)
