Leadership and Management Forum Goals
The goal of the XING Leadership and Management forum is to expand the knowledge, understanding and competence of members in the managerial and leadership fields.
Forum aims and operations
The aim of this forum is to allow the members to exchange views and help each other to learn and apply management and leadership skills. Management and leadership skills are not the same but they complement each other. There are many sources of learning for management including on-the-job, MBAs, conferences and seminars. There are fewer avenues to learn leadership. My hope is that by providing a forum for open and helpful discussion, both online and in person, the members will feel rewarded for time taken to read and share their experiences, concerns and insights in the ongoing quest to improve their management and leadership skills.
Management topics will run the full range of management disciplines, from personal management through recognized fields like knowledge, environmental, quality, process and team management to slightly more esoteric topics like innovation, creativity, systems thinking, complexity, culture and learning. The forum will promote discussion amongst members about how to improve leadership, questions about leadership style, the interaction between leadership and enterprise culture, and how to learn to be both a manager and a leader.
The forum will consist of three avenues of communication and relationship building:
1. Online topic forum.
2. Physical networking meetings including the XING STARS Knowledge Cafés.
3. Publishing articles and links to articles on the web.
We welcome members who wish to be active and caring participants, willing to share their views, opinions and advice on how to improve as a manager and how to learn to be a leader.
We will be providing links to the outcomes of the XING STARS Knowledge Cafés via this forum.
