    Blind to disruptive changes in the marketplace
    The easy narrative is that Kodak is a classic case of a company blind to the disruptive changes in its marketplace. Like many easy narratives, this one is not quite right.
    Kodak’s struggles show how brutally hard it is to get transformation right.

    Perhaps this might also be a good example of strategic drift. Especially for market leaders it is tempting to not to research why they are successful. "Everything works fine. Why should we change it?!" Related to that is the question if/when a core competence turns into a core rigidity. It seems Kodak was aware of the disruptive change since the 70s!

    I would think that the source of failure was an adaquate upgrade of their core competences, i.e. unrelated diversification.
