  2009 Major IT Areas

  In these highly challenging times when everyone is aimed at trimming their budgets, investing money in new innovative projects may appear to be a "luxury" (as some of you have pointed out). Companies start to be more selective in their spendings and choose areas that would bring “guaranteed” returns and competitive advantage. So what are these areas (in other words, trends) for the year 2009? Here’s a short list of those that have come up to my mind right now: SaaS, security, virtualization, Web 2.0, document and portfolio management.
  Which ones are going to be the most attractive for investment of your time and energy? Or maybe you have other IT priorities? Please share your thoughts.
