Dear All,
I am a Slovak licensed tax advisor working for KPMG in Slovakia for a number of years, focusing on M&A Tax, real estate taxation and transfer pricing. In 2004 I returned from a two year assignment to IBFD, Amsterdam where, besides other duties, I managed research projects for the European Commission. I am also lecturing on international trainings focused on international taxation what is a great opportunity to meet interesting people and exchange ideas.
I should note that with effect from 1 January 2009 maintaining transfer pricing documentation became obligatory in Slovakia. The Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic recently issued guidelines which specify details regarding the content and the rules for keeping documentation on the transfer pricing method applied by foreign related parties.
The transfer pricing documentation has to be maintained in the Slovak language, and only based on an approval from the tax authorities may be kept in other languages. Failure to maintain the transfer pricing documentation may lead to a penalty imposed by the tax authorities.
KPMG will shortly issue a newsflash on this topic. Should you be interested in more details, please visit our web-site
http://www.kpmg.sk in the near future or contact me.
Kind regards,
Zuzana

Dear All,
Our Tax Alert on TP documentation requirements was published.
I should also note that the Slovak Ministry of Finance prepared a couple of amendments to our tax law which are now being discussed by the parliament. One of the amendments proposes the possibility of tax grouping for VAT purposes in Slovakia.
Kind regards,
Zuzana
