Dear participants
Some months ago I wrote about the UMTS videotelephony market - and I still feel confident, that we see an emerging market here in the field of dialogue communication. Granted - my use cases weren't very exciting, but there are a lot more possibilities like entertainment, bet and win applications, partitipation TV etc..
So I was very astonished, that T-Mobile is now actively blocking videocalls from UMTS-telephone to Premium Rate Services. To me it's the proof that video dialogue could be successfull in the next months. And we will do our very best to bring these new services right into the market.
If someone of you is interested in video telephony, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best

Dear Michael,
it's very astonishing for me to hear that TMO is blocking video-calls using UMTS access. Up to now I thought video-calls are one product in the UMTS end-user portfolio. As we had video-calls already in the early years of ISDN nowbody was serious expecting a new killer application but it is definitely part of the voice product bundle.
Swisscom is deploying video-calls in bundle with their UMTS phones. The usage and market acceptance rate is not that bad! Furthermore I think it will prepare the market for DVB-H and other services using the UMTS phones screen.
Best regards,
Peter Jost
