Brian Dungate(not a XING member)Polish-language Toastmasters clubs in Europe
THIS IS A TRANSLATION OF A SUBMISSION TO A GERMAN-LANGUAGE FORUM. I HAVE PROVIDED IT HERE BECAUSE IT DESERVES A WIDER AUDIENCE.
Here's some news about a great initiative - "Polish your Polish in Düsseldorf" - an embryo Polish Toastmasters club in Germany. A group of young, Polish professionals from the Düsseldorf area decided to hone their communication skills under the guiding principles of Toastmasters International, and, at the same time, to make new networking contacts.
At the inaugural meeting in Düsseldorf of the first Polish-language club outside Poland, the founders were joined by many guests from both the local area and Poland.
A further highlight of the meeting was the participation of two non-Polish guests from Germany and England who provided a high level of expertise. Club representatives from the Warsaw, Lodz and Stettin clubs took part in the event and the local German Düsseldorf Toastmasters club gave its support.
The first meeting provided an opportunity for those unfamiliar with Toastmasters to see how Toastmasters meetings work by fostering a friendly environment where members can participate and learn the methods whereby one can become an effective communicator.
Dirk Löffelbein, from the Düsseldorf Toastmaster Club also gave an interesting and informative talk in English on Feedback.
The Düsseldorf meeting was the first of a series of Polish-language Toastmaster meetings throughout Europe. The next one will take place in London on 27 October 2007, followed by Venray (Netherlands) on 11 November 2007, Vienna on 23 December 2007, Berlin on 16 February 2008 and a further meeting - the date of which is not yet finalised - in Brussels in February 2008.
These are exciting times for us. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
