    Toastmasters LinkedIn Group Born!
    Laurent was gracious enough to give me the nudge (a couple of times, actually) to start a Toastmasters International group on LinkedIn. If you use LinkedIn and you are a Toastmasters member, then you are encouraged to join this new group.

    Please make sure that your LinkedIn profile mentions Toastmasters somewhere, so that we know you are a current member and so we can approve you.

    Unfortunately LinkedIn does not offer all the great discussion tools and forums that XING does, but you will be able to see other members of the group on LinkedIn. It should be a great way to connect with other Toastmasters on LinkedIn.

    Presidents and Governors interested by pre-approved list,
    could send a .csv file (comma-separated values) with three columns for First Name, Last Name, and Email Address and a single header row which include these column labels.

    I want to re-emphasize a key point:

    MAKE SURE TOASTMASTERS IS LISTED IN YOUR PROFILE!

    I have started reviewing a number of applications, and some of them have hidden public profiles, or their profiles do not mention Toastmasters at all. I am rejecting those applications.

    Of course, if you have some strong reason to NOT have a public profile on LinkedIn, please e-mail me at alex@rlprj.com with your club information, and I will pre-approve your application.

    In general, though, someone joining a LinkedIn group like this should already have Toastmasters listed somewhere on the profile. One of the major reasons to join is to declare your membership proudly on your profile page, and to make yourself visible to your fellow Toastmasters.

    On the plus side, we are already up to twelve members of the new group! Keep the applications coming, and start spreading the word among your clubs, areas, districts, and regions!

    To help publicize the new LinkedIn Toastmasters group, as well as this XING group, we launched a new web site:

    http://www.toastmasters-networking.org/

    If your friends say "it is too hard to figure out how to join the group" or if they have questions about the groups, please encourage them to visit. It is easy to remember -- "Toastmasters, dash, networking, dot org".

    Laurent is helping me keep the content up-to-date there, and I welcome the help of any of the people here.

    Please let your fellow Toastmasters know the benefits you are getting here, and how they can sign up as well. It makes a great speech topic.

    Many of you are not in the LinkedIn group yet, and I encourage you to join there. It is free to join, just like XING.

    If anyone knows of any other social or business networking sites with a Toastmasters group, let me know. I would like to feature them as well at the Toastmasters Networking site.
