Hi dear Mert,
it's really interesting information, because investments used to be more familiar in China recently...
but actually this event sets light to China's point of view on its desirable position... so can we say that Far East Tigers are willing to have Turkiye as a gate to Middle East and Northern Africa markets?
Mersin has all needed features to be such gate.....

meanwhile.... Turkish and Chinese officials have begun talks to revive the historic Silk Road route...
Kursad Tuzmen, a Foreign Trade Minister has said previous day: "China has a massive population and a great potential to grow in both railway and road transportation. China has a trade volume of $2.3 trillion, and it is estimated this will grow to $10 trillion in the next few years. Joint projects with a country like this would speed up our growth,"
They aim to bring a route from China to port city of Mersin via Kazakhstan to make a new Silk Road for train transportation...

Well historical myth or expedition hero Marco Polo was replaced by internet and visual media during the 20th century and of course historical and traditional Silk Route is a very strong motivation for Middle Asia to integrate the globalizing world instead of being backyards of super forces.
As Mr. Tuzmen pointed to revive a route between China and Mediterranean via Caucasian region would dramatically increase trade volumes between the region countries and also Gulf region and Eastern Europe for sure.
And many tourism companies are making deals for Silk Route tours nowadays I bet, if they could get government warranties for mild climate for the sake of these trips. If I had a travel agency I would work on those deals.. :)
All the best.
