    Tell Me A Tale in Turkey- community project in Turkey's disadvantages schools
    Dear Friends,

    Tell Me A Tale runs creative community projects with vulnerable and excluded groups. In the last four years we have run projects in schools, hospitals, care homes, prisons, Immigration Detention Centres and with various community/arts organisations in the UK, Turkey and Australia. We have experience in creating and facilitating specific and unique projects focusing on the participants needs. Tell Me A Tale is registered in the UK as a Community Interest Company, designed for social enterprises that want to use their profits and assets for the public good. We are a not-for-profit organisation and any profits we make go back into community projects and causes.

    Tell Me A Tale in Turkey is a 14-week project where Tell Me A Tale will run two-week drama residences in seven disadvantaged schools in Turkey starting September 2011 (two special needs schools, two primary schools, two secondary schools and one orphanage). Drama is an inclusive activity that enables individuals the chance to practice the social skills of co-operation, trust, self-control and problem solving. Children in remote communities do not have access to the same education as those in cities. This project will enable children to gain confidence through exercises that do not rely on literacy or verbal fluency, whilst providing opportunity to work on these skills. At the end of each two-week residency the children involved will do a performance for the local community so that all local people can be a part of this experience.

    At the end of this project we will publish a research paper 'How can drama can be used as a powerful educational tool for children in Turkey in challenging situations?' This paper will be made available to all schools in Turkey.

    The cost of this project is £10,000 (26,500 TRY). We are asking 100 Turkish business’/individuals to donate £100 (265 TRY) to make this project possible. In return we will thank every supporter by mentioning them on all of our social media sites (facebook, twitter, blog) as well as acknowledging them at the end of the research paper.

    Değerli Arkadaşlar,

    Bir Öykü Anlat (Tell Me A Tale) korunmaya muhtaç ve dışlanmış gruplarla yaratıcı projeler yürüten bir kuruluştur. Son dört yıl içinde İngiltere, Türkiye ve Avustralya’da, okularda, hastanelerde, bakım evlerinde, cezaevlerinde ve göçmen gözaltı merkezlerinde etkinliklerimiz oldu. Bir çok toplum ve sanat örgütleriyle işbirliği yaptık. Katılımcıların ihtiyaçlarını göz önünde tutan ve benzeri olmayan özel projelerde deneyim kazandık. “Tell Me A Tale” İngiltere’de, sahip oldukları değerleri ve kârlarını toplum yararına kullanan bir “Community Interest Company” (“Toplum Amaçlı Şirket” denebilir) olarak kayıtlıdır. Kâr amacı gütmeyen bir kuruluş olduğumuz için, elde edilecek herhangi bir kâr yine sosyal amaçlı projelerde kullanılacaktır.

    Bir Öykü Anlat Türkiye’de Eylül 2011’de başlayacak ve 14 hafta sürecek programıyla yedi adet dezavantajlı okulda (iki özel eğitim okul, iki ilk okul, iki orta okul ve bir öksüzler yurdunda) ikişer haftalık drama atölye çalışmaları uygulayacaktır. Bireylere işbirliği özgüven, özdenetim ve problem çözme becerileri kazandıran drama kapsamlı çok yönlü bir faaliyettir. Toplumdan uzak olan çocuklar, şehirlerdeki çocuklar ile aynı eğitimi alma imkanına sahip değillerdir. Projemiz, egzersizlerle, okuma yazma kullanmadan veya konusma akıcılığı gerektirmeden, çocukların bu becerilerini arttırarak özgüven geliştirmelerini sağlayacaktır. İki haftalık atölye çalışmalarının sonunda çocuklar çevrelerindeki kişiler için bir gösteri yapacaktır. Böylece onlar da bu deneyimin bir parçasi olacaktır.

    Projenin sonunda “Türkiye’de engelli olmanın güçlüklerini yaşayan çocuklar için drama’nın nasıl etkin bir eğitim aracı olarak kullanılabildiği” konulu bir araştırma raporu yayınlayacağız. Bu raporu Türkiye’deki bütün okullarin elde edebilme imkanı olacak.
    Toplam bütçemizi 26,500 YTL olarak belirledik. Bu projenin gerçeklesebilmesi için 100 Türk şirketin/kişinin 265 YTL (£100) bağışta bulunmasi gerekmektedir. Tüm destekleyicilerimize sosyal mediya (facebook, twitter, blog) aracılığıyla teşekkür edilecek ve aynı zamanda raporumuzun sonunda belirtilecektir.
