So ...
after complaining in my introductory thread that there are no recipes posted yet, although there are already 44 members in the forum (not a good number, btw ... so let's find some new members fast ;-) ...
... well, then I found out that I myself, er, also did not have any recipes with me ... *blush*
... but luckily I remembered where a lot of them can be found ... voila:
'The Moosewood Cookbook' by Mollie Katzen:
http://www.amazon.de/Moosewood-Cookbook-Katzens-Classic-Pape...
'The Enchanted Broccoli Forest', by the same author:
http://www.amazon.de/New-Enchanted-Broccoli-Forest-Delicacie...
Those are really beautiful (and beautifully illustrated) cookbooks with a lot of very good recipes. Some take a bit of preparation, but I have not regretted a single recipe I tried out. Take a look at these books, if you can.
Plus, she has a very nice online presence ...
http://www.molliekatzen.com
... so there finally IS a recipe ... enjoy Chocolate Pecan Pie:

Best regards,

Good morning!
Related to the recipes which will be published here - would anyone mind if we use some of them (of course not all and only the vegan recipes) to translate in German for the animal-rights-group? We have collected about 3 sites of vegan recipes and hope to get more and more.
To regive certainly you could take our recipes to translate in English and publish in here. It would be great if we could have a big database of veggie-recipes soon!
So some of my favourite websites with vegan recipes are these (unfortunately only in German):
http://www.peta.de/rezepte/rezepte.74.html
http://www.peta2.de/essen/p166/wiebkes_punkrock_kueche.html
http://www.vheft.de

http://www.vegetarisch-geniessen.com/0602/index.html
http://www.veganwelt.de
http://soylent.de/x/gallery/vegan_food_self
http://www.vegetarisch-einkaufen.de/Rez/rez.html
http://www.vegetarierbund.de/essen/_essen_ernaehrung.htm
in English:

...
to be continued...
Have all together lovely day,
Sabrina

Hi,
posted in another (German-speaking) forum, but also quite suitable for here:
Spaghetti with raw tomato sauce.
Für die Traditionalisten ... das Rezept mit Mengenangaben etc... hier:
http://www.kochmeister.com/r/40931
Kurz zusammengefasst ...
OK, here's the English synopsis.
- Some good, tasty, fresh tomatoes
- fresh basil
- a good measure of garlic (at least one clove)
- salt, freshly ground pepper
- a liberal measure of olive oil.
Shred all that and stir it into a sauce ... let it rest for at least 15 minutes (better: 30) to allow the different tastes to mingle ... then pour it over the still warm spaghetti. Makes a great summer dish, best with a nice dry white wine.
If you are not vegan, you can of course also add a bit of Grana Padano, Pecorino or Provolone Picante.
Enjoy.
Schöne Grüße/Regards,
Andreas

Hi, Andreas!
If you are not vegan, you can of course also add a bit of Grana Padano, Pecorino or Provolone Picante.
Oh, for Vegans there is a very simple and delicious alternative, very similar to cheese:
Yeast Flakes
Here are some examples, maybe someone here knows one of these products? My favourite Flakes are from "Rapunzel", which taste really very, very "cheesy".

Hi Sabrina,
yes, you are right, these look 'Cheesy' :-)
Although I do like yeast (do you know 'Marmite' ...great stuff! ... don't know if it is something that non-British can get acquainted with, though) ... I am not exactly a fan of all those 'mock' products ... that are made from the strangest soy products and pretend to be meat or something else.
Hell, if I wanted to eat sausages so much that I have to get 'tofu-rolls' instead, then I would maybe not go vegetarian at all. There are enough honest vegetable products around...
Best regards,
Andreas

Hi, Andreas!

Oh, you are right, Marmite is a nice idea, too. We use it for bread or to enrich sauces, for example salad-sauces or other stuff.
Well, that "mock products" might be a good idea for those who have no time for or no fun with cooking. I think we don't need such products, but some people might need them, because they used to eat a lot of convenience-food before becoming veggie.
For birthday-partys (maybe for children) there are some funny veggie-sausages. Maybe you know that game: sausages put on a band, hung up, hands on your back and then you have to try to eat them :-)
For me most of that products are simply to "meaty" - I mean refering to calories ;-) Yes, I know, typically woman :-D
Hell, if I wanted to eat sausages so much that I have to get 'tofu-rolls' instead, then I would maybe not go vegetarian at all. There are enough honest vegetable products around...
Oh, I must say, that our doggies love that hemp-sausages mady by "Wheaty" called "Space-Bar". They are delicious, I like them, too, but eat them not very often. And cured Tofu is a good spread, maybe with onions or parsley... or garlic... yummie...
I need something to eat now, I am so sorry!!! :-D
Have a nice evening, Andreas, and all you shy and dumb (=silent, sparing of words) members of this group ;-)
Sabrina
P. S.: Thank you, Andreas ;-)

P. S.:
I have to explain something!!! When I speak of "dumb" members, I mean members which don´t speak. My favourite online-dictionary is
http://www.leo.org and when I asked for the meaning of the german word "stumm" I got the translation "dumb" at first. Andreas was so kind and told me that someone could feel affront. So I asked leo.org for "dumb" - and now it told me words like: blöd or doof (stupid). I realy ment dumb in the meaning of silent, not-speaking people.
Well, I hope no-one would have the idea I would like to affront someone, wouldn´t you? If someone felt so, I am so sorry!!! But be honest - I have no reason for. Of course it is a little bit disappointing that this grop acutally is a "3-people-show". I cannot see a reason why we don´t discuss or - above all - share our experiences. In the German group we have so many discussions, fun and a lot of people talking to each other. And here... it makes me sad to see that there are a lot of people with a same or similar interest - and nevertheless no communication.
Well, that´s it...
Sabrina

The recipes sound really good. I can't wait to try the Cream of Fresh Pea Soup. Thank you for sharing your favorite website!
