Hello everybody
First I would like to introduce myself and our family-estate. My name is Markus Berres (26). I have studied winemaking and viticulture in Geisenheim Germany. During my education, I have been at Queenstown / New Zealand for half a year, where I have worked at Chardfarm winery to do some trainee on the job. Back to Germany I have taken over our family estate. (
http://www.berres.de sorry page is only in German yet). This was just before harvest 2004. With a lot of ideas in my mind, I have started to change our traditional wine style. I am a fanatic of quality, and everything should to be perfect. C.H.BERRES estate is located at Uerzig / Mosel and exclusively owns vineyards on the slope of the Mosel river valley. In Consequence of this, every vineyard-work is handcraft. We don’t think that this is a disadvantage, far from it; we think handcraft is a pre-condition to produce outstanding, unique wines of character. Our main mountainsides are: Uerziger Wuerzgarten, Erdener Treppchen and Uerziger Goldwingert. Today the estate is managing 3.5 ha of Riesling grapes. The major modifications during my time at C.H.BERRES winery are the introduction of chilled fermentation and the changing from 100% cork closure to 100% of Stelvin+ screw-cap. Since two weeks the 2004 vintage is released. Traditionally the majority of our wines were sold to the German market, only a small amount was determined for Export. During the last months I have looked for Importers in different countries, but it is very hard to find and reach the right persons. So, if you are an importer of fine wines, and interested in our portfolio of Riesling wines, please feel free to contact us.
With best regards from Germany,
Markus Berres
