India resumes aerial searches today for the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh state after photos taken from a plane showed no signs of his helicopter that went missing in a forest where Maoist rebels operate.
Authorities deployed search parties and a fleet of seven helicopters yesterday in a bid to trace Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, a leading politician from the ruling Congress Party.
Photographs taken by an Indian Space Research Organization aircraft that flew low over the Nallamalla forest in the southern state showed no traces of the chopper or debris, the Press Trust of India reported late yesterday.
