Hi everybody,
since July this year I live and work in Tirana, a city and country not so much known to many people. This is now my ninth year as expat, and possibly I am less a German anymore, though some consider me just that.
Originally I come from the Rhine, but enjoy living in this region. Like to meet interesting people from all over the world. And whoever is interested in this part of the world, I might can help.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all

Dear Katrin,
Tirana is certainly a colorful city in more than one sense and life here is interesting, though still a bit different from other cities/ countries. I find myself much more walking than usual - possibly also because workplace and home is near to each other. Driving is a challenge and you need a lot of patience and concentration- especially avoiding holes. Which by the way is also a challenge when walking, like in dark. The offer of coffeebars is abundant and also Tirana provides a lot of restaurants. I love my weekend walks in the park - like many others - followed by a coffee in a one of the small bars. Possibly you know, how we expats try to establish a certain routine, which includes the use of the shop downstairs, the regular trip to the international book shop etc. Now in winter there is an amazing offer of cultural events. One of which is not my favourite - the socalled XMas market , which is like a "Kirmes" and just noisy.
But especially I like traveling the country, its mountain areas, historic spots - of which there are many, etc.
If ever you plan to return, plan on a travel outside of Tirana, as there is so much so see.
For now Merry Christmas
