Nadine Henri(not a XING member)From Nepal with love!
Hya...I am Nadine Henri and I enjoy to be an expat in Nepal. I meet wonderful people here every day and the landscape at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas is awesome. There are many long term expats here from all over the globe. Nepal counts approximately 1200 or so. Plenty Germans, Dutch, French Belgian, British and US-Americans here. A few of us have just started a new Online Nepal Expat Community at expat-blog.com which is a worldwide expat blogging service. Great fun...we have already 13 members gathered within a short time at our Nepal Community.
Many expats however like to stay put and do not like to go blogging. They want privacy...which is understandable because a foreign culture can also be overwhelming. (Not for me...I looove to be overwhelmed with colorful cultural and daily life. And exotic food, fruit, etc.
Now it is rain season and a waterfall pours down from the sky...along with spectacular thunderstorm display and sometimes it sounds like the world comes to an end. When it is silent one hears crickets and frogs in concert all night long in the lush and green rice fields around my office. Living here is truly a blessing and it is addictive.
More than half of the expat community just came as tourists and then never left...or came again and again andd then just married with a Nepalese citizen and have a truckload of relatives and kids. Nepal is a children factory....ow so many children. Still poverty stricken yet cheerful.
Namaste
Nadine
