  Hi expats!
  
  I'm an Australian who has been living in Hamburg for 7 years now and have been through the ups and downs of the expat life (like you all have as well) many times. The waves of homesickness - not as often anymore, I feel quite happy here - which sometimes strike out of the blue, the joy at learning a new language and getting to know a different culture, the funny feeling you get when you realise - 'I'm still an outsider, a foreigner, and always will be really...'.
  
  I'm looking forward to reading other stories and finding out how others cope with the often very strange sensation of living abroad...
