Dear Expats,
I need your help! Yes, yours!
In the spirit of "paying it forward", I want to put together a workshop for people considering to move and work abroad making sure they are as prepared for potential pitfalls as they can be. It's all about knowing what you're getting yourself into and making an informed decision, wouldn't you agree?
Please comment here (or send me a private message at doris@buildingthelifeyouwant.com), and tell me about the things YOU would have liked to have known, but weren't made aware of. I was wondering whether to post this in the "funnies" section, but don't think I'll be allowed to duplicate - so please, if your "I wish I had known this!" has evolved from nuisance to anecdote, still share it!!
Starting with myself, I'd say that had I known that not having a work-permit ISN'T just a lovely excuse to read novels all day, but that it would make me feel quite useless and plain bored, I'd get involved in the local community and find ways to go out and meet people as soon as the plane touched down.
Thank you very much for your help, let me know if I can comment on any of your questions (please provide link).
Wishing us all much prosperity and joy,
Dee xx
