About me

A superlative academic and researcher, Aarti Jerath applies a lifetime of exemplary scholastic performance to her studies at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois. From the beginning, Aarti Jerath demonstrated her unique talents both inside and outside of the classroom as an aspiring high school student-athlete. From 1995 to 1999, Aarti Jerath split her time amongst pursuits in sports and academia, ultimately attaining a ranking of 34 for Women’s Amateur Singles and a doubles ranking of 16 by the United States Tennis Association. The recipient of a Prince Scholarship for her achievement, Aarti Jerath also earned the Augusta Rotary Scholarship and a Westinghouse Scholarship for her schoolwork. A member of the National Honor Society and a National Merit Semifinalist as well, Aarti Jerath graduated from high school as valedictorian of her class.
 
Enrolling at Harvard University in the fall of 1999, Aarti Jerath immediately set out to distinguish herself as a standout in academic and extracurricular activities alike. Playing Varsity Tennis at Harvard for her first two years, Aarti Jerath built upon her excellent record in the sport through strong finishes at the Brown Invitational and other tournaments. During this period, Aarti Jerath began to shift her focus to such community-based service organizations as the Harvard House and Neighborhood Development Program (HAND), in which she served as Leverett House Coordinator. Aarti Jerath later joined a wide variety of leadership groups, including the Harvard Program of International Education, Women in Business, the Harvard Investment Association, the International Health Society, and more.
 
An Economics major at Harvard, Aarti Jerath also maintained involvement in the health sciences and fulfilled internships in both disciplines during this time. Graduating from Harvard in 2004, Aarti Jerath would subsequently gain admission to Boston University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences in 2007. Since then, Aarti Jerath has pursued her M.D. at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, with a projected graduation date of 2011.
