  I have over 15 years experience working with textiles and now work as Technical Project Manager at the Nonwovens Innovation & Research Institute (NIRI), a University of Leeds spin out company. My roles at NIRI involves new product and process development, consultancy, troubleshooting, project leadership, as well as responsibilities for health and safety, operation of some of our extensive pilot plant and design and maintainance of the company web site. A graduate of Lancaster University, I began my career as a research and development chemist working with textile and marine lubricants at 'Vickers Oils' in Leeds. In 2003 I decided to undertake a PhD with the Nonwovens Research Group and Green Chemistry Group at the University of Leeds. During my studies I became a consultant for the newly-formed Nonwovens Innovation & Research Institute and became a full-time employee on completion of my PhD in January 2008.

• Interests

  Away from the world of technical textiles, I am also a trustee of Upstagers Theatre Charity Ltd., Upstagers being one of Yorkshire's most well respected amateur theatre groups.
