About me
The aim of any kind of networking is to develop and maintain relationships—something we are naturally good at in our personal lives but not so great at when it comes to our professional lives. I think of networking as sharing: time, information, resources, and opportunities. It can be as simple as just talking to everyone you know. The question is: Who do you know? And the answer: More people than you think!!!
I want to connect to my clubs, professional organization members, volunteer contacts, merchants, civic leaders, neighbors, and anyone and everyone they know as well. And not to leave my classmates, former classmates, school alumni, teachers, professors, coaches, and anyone who was ever in my team or in my class. Co-workers, former co-workers, bosses, friends' bosses count, too.
I have three years of experience in client relationship and business development. In the initial stages of my career I was involved in to client relationship. By becoming involved in Business Development I felt I could develop myself professionally further, by winning and developing business opportunities and then utilizing my account/project management skills to see this business ‘won’ through to fruition. By stepping into a Business Development role I was certainly stepping out my comfort zone, but felt this was necessary at this stage of my career. To increase my skill-set and provide myself with a greater potential pool of future job roles, moving into Business Development was necessary.
I would be happy to stay in the industry I am currently in, however, ‘never say never’. I have only been doing my current Business Development role for 14 months, but in another 8-10 months time I would be looking for the next step up. Ultimately, in 3-4 years time I will be aiming to secure a National Business Development/Account Management role...
