About me

Axel Störzner, educated as Cultural Manager, working under the name DJ axe.l since 12 years travelled to over 15 countries and 5 continents. In the last years travelling more and more because of the reason to get into touch with the local music underground. He gained his international DJ experiences playing in countries like Morocco, Hungary, Netherlands, Thailand for sure also in Brazil.
He enters the Globalibre Team 2007 and works since this time as manager, networker, motor and team-player while the time he is not Djing. With the Globalibre Crew he works on developing the artists network and spreading out actual masterpieces of multicultural influenced electronic music with a lot of passion and also keeping the history of World Music in mind (how it was labeled in the past).
Contemporary urban electronic music as Tropical House and Transnational Bass is the main content which is published mainly on our blog. Having now around 30.000 visitors per month from all over the world the Globalibre blog is a platform for urban culture already and axe.l was part of the crew which worked on to develop it like that. Using social media platforms like facebook.com and specialized DJ platforms like soundcloud.com, mixcloud.com, helps to promote our work as DJ and promote our blog in the last two years with success.
With this network axe.l got the possibilities to host and to be hosted around the world by the artists and more and more friends through the work for Globalibre. Travels to Spain, Morocco, Hungary, Netherlands and at last Brazil have been the destinations where DJ axe.l promotes Globalibre and to work on the cultural exchange between the artists, network friends, bloggers and so on.
Starting his music interest with heavy-metal, psycedelic-rock and funk of the 70ies, reggae and dub, he starts DJing with the begin of the Acid-Jazz and Trip-Hop movement. More and more influenced by electronic beats he added Jungle and Drum”n Bass to his repertoire and with the time, loving the releases of NINJA TUNE he wired also to UK. hip-hop and experimental and eclectic beats.

With starting to travel in the mid 90ies he got in touch with music from india, sri lanaka, creole, australia and so on and on… So the DJ-Set had changed again and not only the dancefloor was interesting to present the collection of music he wants to bring to the people. In 2007 was the turning or peak point in his DJ-live with meeting Ralf, the founder of Globalibre. Since this time cultural influences are fixed in the DJ-Sets he plays.

Many Years he also worked as Eventmanager, Organizer and Engine for cultural projects in his local area – the subculture of the Ruhrarea.

Nach vielen Jahren als Veranstalter; DJ, Organisator und ProMotor in der Dortmunder und Ruhrgebiets Subkultur, ist es mir 2006 gelungen die Band Hoyo Colorao - die mit ihrem Nr. 1 Hit 'Dis Que No!' auf Kuba sehr erfolgreich ist - einen Label-Kontakt zu vermitteln. Release der neuen Single 'Johnny La Mula' war der 04.08.2006. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Dortmund Label Pläne und der Egrem auf Kuba entstand die Möglichkeit das neue Album 'Todo Se Sabe' von Hoyo Colorao in Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz und den Benelux-Ländern zu veröffentlichen. Dieses wurde von Funkhaus Europa zur CD der Woche gekürt und erhielt von der Fachpresse gute Kritiken. Ich habe als bevollmächtigter der Band die Vertragsverhandlungen geführt und zum Abschluss gebracht. Gerne würde ich mich weiter in dieser Richtung betätigen und suche deshalb weitere Kontakte mit denen Kooperationen, Bandaustauschprojekte, Nachwuchsförderung und Veranstaltungen geplant und durchgeführt werden können.

Das zweite Projekt welches im Dezember 2006 seinen Abschluss gefunden hat ist die Compilation GLOBALIBRE 2 - World Club Culture. Dieses Projekt habe ich mit WDR Musikredakteur Ralf Ilgner aka DJ Gärtner der Lüste durchgeführt. Einige Facts dazu:
GLOBALIBRE II - World Club Culture
‘Globalibre’ steht auch in der zweiten Ausgabe für Club-beeinflusste Musik aus verschiedensten Ländern, für einen modernen Mix aus unterschiedlichsten Stilen, Sprachen und Tanzkulturen. Gemeinsam ist allen der spielerische Umgang mit den Roots, die Lust am Ungewöhnlichen und Schönen, die Steigerung des globalen Tanzvergnügens. Von Deutschland aus schicken Ralf Ilgner und DJ axe.l die HörerInnen u.a. nach England, Mali, Neuseeland, Kuba, USA, Frankreich und die Ukraine, um zum Abschluss wieder mit einen Stück aus Deutschland die geneigten TänzerInnen erschöpft und glücklich zurück zu lassen. Türkenlounge trifft hier auf Bhangra, Afro-Electro auf Asien-Dub, Reggaeson auf Balkan-Beats. Die Rhythmen treffen sich, fließen in einander und spätestens nach dem zweiten Stück meldet das Kleinhirn: Beine bewegen!

WORLD CLUB CULTURE

Es verwundert schon, dass bei allen musikalischen Unterschieden die Codes ähnlich bleiben und weltweit verstanden werden. Man tanzt in Paris, Berlin, Havanna oder New York kollektiv & weltweit. Alles scheint möglich, alles mischt sich, die Musikwelt erscheint mitunter als ein Dorf mit vielen Eingängen. Gehört wird, was Spass macht und Qualität hat. Unter diesen Gesichtspunkten haben die beiden DJs einen Wust von Platten gehört, die sie teils selber von ihren Reisen mitgebracht haben. Haben aussortiert, zusammengestellt, umgeworfen, neue Songs angefragt und wieder am Set gebastelt bis alles endlich ‘rund’ war. Das ‘rund’ keinesfalls ‘glatt’ bedeutet, versteht sich von selbst, wenn z.B. Asien-Dubber wie ‘Trans-Global underground’ auf Countrybands wie ‘The Bosshoss treffen!

GÄRTNER DER LÜSTE & AXE.L
Unter seinem DJ-Namen “Gärtner der Lüste” initiierte Ralf Ilgner mit einem DJ-Team bereits den ersten, sehr erfolgreichen Teil der ‘Globalibre’-Serie.
Er hat ausserdem bereits diverse CDs sowie einen Roman veröffentlicht.
DJ axe.l legt in diversen Clubs auf, ist nebenher Promotor und Veranstalter, organisiert Partyreihen oder beteiligt sich an verschiedenen Kunstprojekten.
