    In 2005, Dr. Welz was asked to drive SAP’s service portfolio across consulting, education and support services. He founded Services Solution Management as a new function. With a new service productization approach, SAP was able to make its services easier to consume for customers of all sizes which also lead to significant margin improvements.

    In 2003 and 2004, Dr. Welz led a large scale process re-engineering and organizational change program across SAP engineering and support units. He founded and managed the Product Support organization with a total of 2.000 employees which was responsible for delivering maintenance services for all SAP products. The new maintenance model delivered significant improvements in response times to customers while substantially reducing maintenance costs for SAP.

    As program lead and global operations manager Active Global Support, Dr. Welz delivered significant improvements in customer satisfaction, employee engagement and cost reduction by transforming dozens of local support teams into a global support organization. He thereby also created a number of new functions such as the Global Customer Interaction Centre and Global License Auditing Services a sales support.
