Accelerated completion of €76 million thin-film solar Fab. in China
Overall project management responsibility for €76 million thin-film solar Fab. in P.R. China. Project completed on-time and within budget, to successfully become first TüV certified thin-film Fab. in China. Success catalysed major follow-up projects and personal promotion to overall responsibility for Project Management and Site Management of entire portfolio of Oerlikon Fabs.
Launch of Corporate Alumni Management program at IBM
Managed the project team for a major business social networking program to enable current and former IBMers to reconnect, collaborate and generate innovation and business opportunities. System developed and launched for target population of 1.3 million people. The cross-functional team consulted on technical platform implementation, creation of the network and community, designing and running strategic workshops, on-line approach and moderation, and leveraging off-line activities and events.
Production of Executive Think Tank
Full responsibility for the successful production of an Executive Think Tank on the topic of “The reality of convergence: Mobile Content”. Directed the building and development of a network of 30 thought leaders, managed the client mandate and partner relationships and lead the 20 person project team. Developed all content: research and information synthesis, concept development, Think Tank design and execution, implementation, and post-meeting assessment, analysis and publication. •Successful Implementation of Stage Gate and Portfolio Management:
Led the successful implementation of StageGateTM project management and review, multi-functional project and portfolio management methodology for $400 million turnover European business. Achieved significant improvement in new product development cycle times and project profitability.
•IT Business Success at Key Pharmaceuticals Client for Cap Gemini Ernst and Young: Achieved major business breakthrough in critical division of key target client. Rapidly established credible relationships at all levels, defined the primary decision criteria and initiated the first major IT project at this important client (€2.6 million).
•Delivered Full Global Structural Analysis for Cracker By-Products. Helped client establish detailed understanding of value potential of a complex supply chain, which had previously been viewed as means to dispose of by-products. Specified and built a very intuitive, user friendly database to provide a platform for continued use of the data. Discovered a significant number of opportunities for value generation and business improvement for the sponsoring business unit as well as other client business units.
•Developed a Strategy to Counteract Commoditisation and Harvest New Channels: Repositioned client in a market where their earlier technology leadership was becoming commoditised. Conducted major primary research program to identify which players are most open to new business models. Initiated transformation map to drive organisation to long term, profitable customer relationships.
•Implemented Enzymatic Test Methodology and Developed Patented Ion Exchange Resin for Citrus Juice De-bittering: Initiated new methodology for Ion Exchange resin evaluation. Resulting improvement in speed and accuracy allowed optimisation of a new de-bittering process for orange juice, now patented and used in major US plants.
