Why am I interested in project work?

Project work is always challenging because each project has its specific environment and preconditions that need to be analysed and taken into consideration for planning and leading.

During the years I worked in projects I learnt that the main reasons for projects to fail are interpersonal problems rather then missing know-how.
Understanding the sociology of your project is the key for success. To make a project a success you need to create a WIN-WIN situation for all people involved. Finding the hidden motivation of all key people and convince them that the project will create value for them is an important success factor.

What is my project experience?

During the last 2 years I worked on several projects in IT. I head the project lead for hardware renewals, application upgrades und application enhancements. The technology involved was SAS, SQL Server, and PHP. I participated in a project implementing a master data management application based on IBM Websphere Customer Center and Oracle. I was responsible for three subprojects: ETL processes for the initial load of data, Web application interfacing between the Dun and Bradstreed worldwide database and IBM WCC including a user interface, interfaces to the data warehouse, reporting system, and policy administration systems.

What else have I done in my professional career?

In the years before I was involved in many other projects in the area of IT; employee benefits, actuarial analysis and total compensation. The projects covered fields like insurance administration, captive administration, CRM (Siebel), business process analysis and optimization, captive administration, balanced score card, pension fund harmonization, and ETL processes.

As deputy leader of the employee benefits department of Winterthur International I was dealing with international program solutions, captives, and reinsurance solutions in addition to the project work mentioned above. I had the lead of the captive administration team.

At the beginning of my career in the insurance sector I worked in an actuarial team of a life insurance company and was responsible for international employee benefit solutions, local experience rating, and financial products.
My focus changed more and more to project work, business analysis, and system engineering during this time.

Special experience:

During 7 years I wrote specifications and made designs for a patent lawyer and had the change to get insight into many technical areas.
