I am Greek, born in Hamburg, Germany in 1973.
At the age of 12 moved to Athens, Greece where I finished school.
In 1992 I started studying at the Chemical Engineering Department, Patras-Greece from which I graduated in 1998. Since 1996 a member of the Metals and Metallurgy Laboratory, I continued my studies there for a MSc in Materials Science (2002) and PhD in Chemical Engineering (2004) in close cooperation with the IEHK, RWTH-Aachen, Germany. In the meantime, I fulfilled my military service with the Greek army between 2002 and 2003 where I also worked in the chemical laboratory, metals and food analysis during the last few months.
In June 2004, after having finished my PhD, I started working for ELVAL S.A. as technology department engineer, a newly formed department. I was working in the coil coating line, responsible for the chemical treatment (cleaning and coating section), the chemical laboratory and the waste treatment plant of the line.
After a short period, I made a career move, accepting a Marie Curie Fellowship awarded by the European Commission and moved to Toulouse, France where I worked for 2 years as post-doc researcher in the field of catalytic applications, coatings by means of chemical vapour deposition, with the CIRIMAT/CNRS.
In 2007 I moved back to Greece and ELVAL S.A. where I became casthouse production and technology engineer. Responsible for new technological innovations, every-day production and personnel, logistics/purchasing, contacts with suppliers, environmental issues, gaseous and liquid consumptions. I stopped working for ELVAL (again) in May 2008.
In August 2008 I started with TCI, the representation office of the Germanischer Lloyd, Industrial Services in Greece. I have worked on a major project, pipes production quality supervision at the CPW plant in Greece for a US customer, Energy Transfer. I have participated in all stages of production (SAW, coating, lining) supervision as well as ship loading. The project lasted from August 2008 until March 2009. Currently I am working on two projects in Algeria, involving pipelines.
 
I am member of the MCFA (Marie Curie Fellows Association) where I participated in the Administrative Board, as Secretary General for two years, representing the association towards the E.C., journals etc. among others and one more year as administrative board member.
 
I am currently looking for new employment, no boundaries concerning the topic or the country. I am open to new ideas and propositions and appreciate new, challenging opportunities.
I speak Greek, German, English, French and have started earning Japanese.
 
I'm very sociable, like talking with people in person or online, getting to know about them and their work. I like multinational working environments and adapt easily. At work, I appreciate it when I'm allowed to speak out, express my opinion and discuss problems and their solutions openly. I like learning (that's one of the reasons I'm still into research) through reading and discussing science, technology, innovation. I believe that a strong point in being an engineer is that I can imagine, think, consider, execute and come up with something new.
 
I am married and have one little girl. We live in Athens, Glyfada area but as a family we're used to living all around the globe.
