About me

Hello.

I make your online presence
work even harder than you do...

Does that make sense?

► An expert in online visibility, I add gravitas and authority to your individual and corporate footprint online. I improve online reputation and visibility for ambitious entrepreneurs and corporations.

► I write for and advise The Next Web Blog, closely associated with the Next Web Annual Conference held each April in Amsterdam, focusing on what's next on the web, with an audience of European Web Startups, Online Influentials, Entrepreneurs and VCs - http://thenextweb.com

► I am an co-author of the book 'Age of Conversation 2.0', now available as ebook, paperback or limited edition hardback at at http://www.lulu.com/ageofconversation

► As co-founder and Director of Russian Communications (1993), NewsBase (1995) and Clarocada (2005), I have a track record for connecting people, finding partners, building alliances, and matching ideas with opportunities, and am always open to new ideas and avenues for collaboration.

► I speak Russian and Spanish, have placed content on Page 1 Position 1 of Google within 40 minutes, and am 'The world's first Digital Biographer', according to the BBC.

► I enable outstanding visibility and credibility through the design, management and promotion of social media - social network profiles, blogs, lifestreaming, web sites, search marketing and microblogs, and integrate these with key events, products and conferences.

A FEW TESTIMONIALS FOR DAVID PETHERICK...

"David's a great guy. His free stuff on how to create a great profile page and his html guide are just fabulous." - Bruce King

"Goodness me...someone prepared to act immediately, explain a service, back it with guarantees, provide the technical assistance needed and enable the changeover. Stunning." - Rob Killen

"Someone you can rely on, under promise and over achieve, thats what I've come to expect of him. All in all, a 10/10. Engage with him today, before his diary fills up." - Fraser Hay

"Being interviewed for The Sunday Times is a fantastic opportunity for anyone. When I was interviewed, an excellent article was published but unfortunately my name was misspelt. That could have caused problems with people not being able to find me on search engines if they wanted to find out more about me.

Having sent David a text to let him know that the article was there, he called me within an hour and offered to do what he could to rectify the situation with my name. Within another hour any search under the misspelt name on Google would meet David's blogs at positions 1 and 2, leading them to my site.

David proved himself to be a fantastic, generous networking by offering his services and acting so quickly, and on a Sunday. Not only that, he also showed that he is a true master of his craft.

Connect with him, you'd be daft not to." - Andy Lopata

Traditional Business: Language, News, Words
I was the core founder, along with my wife Roza, of The Russian Communications Company in 1993, NewsBase in 1995, the television joint venture BQTV, and am CEO at Clarocada and Certain Host. I also write for The Next Web Blog, based in Amsterdam.

Writing & Languages
I have contributed to many journals and on-line publications, and still do. I speak my native English, Russian, and Spanish, and a few words in Catalan, French and Portuguese. I mainly work in the UK, Spain and Russia. I contribute to the Next Web at http://thenextweb.com and my blog is at "Digital Biographer" http://digitalbiographer.com and write for a number of agencies, organisations and individuals.

What I love...

I am married to the lovely Roza with a beautiful and similarly multilingual daughter, Angelica, pictured here in Spain, and enjoy business innovation, hard work, visual art, good books, travel, entertaining friends, good food & wine, malt whisky, Russian vodka, and people who are not too full of themselves and don't talk piffle. I enjoy hard work, but I enjoy family and friends far more. I work to live, and luckily, I work with many customers, colleagues and suppliers who are also friends.

What I hate...
My pet hate is managementspeak or consultantspeak: saying "leveraging the added value of the deliverables with an optimised and synergistic strategy..." when you could just use plain english and be understood. That really makes me angry because when woolly nonsense and evasive language is mistaken for wisdom and insight, everyone who buys into it is in big trouble.

Why I am proud of my work...
I think there are more than 60 people working around the business hubs resulting from the partnerships in place in creating NewsBase in 1995 - in the UK, USA, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Central & Eastern Europe, North Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, South America, China. I enjoy that fact, and I am proud of it. Some of my good friends work at NewsBase. I occasionally make a little money from it. But more importantly, I helped make something happen which is alive, flourishing, and growing. And I want to keep reinventing and improving, and finding synergy with new partners... to stay hungry, stay curious, keep learning.

Tim Sanders says I am not a vampire...
As Tim Sanders of Yahoo! [ http://timsanders.com ] said in a message to me in January 2006, when I wrote to him supporting his statement about sharing ideas as a business priority, "Either you are an emotionally satisfying experience (a giver) or your are an emotionally draining experience (vampire) -- or somewhere in between. It turns out to be an indicator or success, failure or mediocrity." By Tim's measure, I hope I am a success!

I really believe that what my companies do is amazing...
I believe in business being more than just about a bottom line, and more about a joyful, creative, inspiring activity that must reward both its customers and its own people. I believe every business should build beautiful systems and create incredible customer experiences - otherwise, pardon me, what's the damn point? And if it's not fun, funky, enjoyable, caring, sharing, human and sexy, why on earth is it there?
