Experience
After graduating from Tianjin Foreign Languages Institute with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature in 1997, I started my career as a professional translator/interpreter in Tianjin Huishun Decoration Engineering Co. Ltd, a Sino-American company contracting for Motorola’s architectural decoration projects. As an on-site translator/interpreter, I played a key role from the bidding of the project to the execution of all contracts including translation of contracts, technical manuals, and daily communications on the one hand and interpretation of negotiation, meeting, on-site discussion on the other hand. The job was a big challenge and meanwhile a perfect opportunity for me. My language skills were improved, my self-confidence was established, my communication ability was enhanced and the most important among all, I learned the most significant qualities of being a good professional: seriousness and perseverance.
I decided to become a freelancer from 2004 after the birth of my daughter. Since then my translation subjects have been extended to many other fields: science, technology, energy, IT, tourism, linguistics, laws, mechanism, history, chemistry, biotechnology, business, shipping etc. Life becomes more interesting and meaningful during the process of learning and translating. It’s hard to imagine how things would be if I was not a freelancer. Though it requires great contribution of time and energy, satisfaction from customers makes it worthy.
