WHAT INTERESTS ME
Meeting people with vision, lots of drive, energy, the determination and will to succeed (not necessarily in the 'traditional' career/business sense; rather personal success as defined by you and a goal of pushing the envelope to test the limits of one's potential); with social conscience and a good dose of healthy principles.
THINGS I DO AND AM DOING
"MAID TO ORDER" eBOOK - PUBLISHED AS "HAPPIER MAIDS, HAPPIER HOMES" BOOK - FEB 2008
I developed a practical training process called DPMR2 for unskilled workers. I applied this to the training of domestic live-in maids. The hiring and placement of foreign domestic workers issue hasn't been tackled I believe in its complexity. One of the issues often cited by employers is 'training' (or lack thereof) which does not include soft skills components. From my research, surveys and inteviews, I decided to write, and have completed, a practical and useful e-book/guide for employers. A condensed version focussed on the sections relating to training was published by Advantage Quest in Feb 2008. (More info:
CONSULTANCY
Development of the clients' product/service and/or business through restructuring/realignment, identifying income streams, market research and alternate marketing/distribution. Workshops and training sessions are also part-and-parcel of the projects where required. These range from local to regional projects. (See:
COACHING
Identifying one's personal and business/career objectives, unblocking 'learned' obstacles, and taking practical steps towards personal fulfilment and increased awareness. I have conducted some public workshops and talks: (
FURTHER STUDIES
I am pursuing a MA in Social Development and Sustainable Livelihoods at University of Reading, UK for 2007/08. I realise that while change occurs one person at a time, I need to learn the macro-implications as well as micro-details of how social change - from the impact of education and training to poverty reduction through sustainable livelihoods - can be effected in a measurable way; especially through the empowerment of the individual. I hope to translate what I learn and implement it in my future work.
REASON FOR NETWORKING
To seek synergies where possible and collaborate/share/grow with like-minded individuals. If you believe that business should be an extension of one's values and an opportunity to empower others and grow from, I'd like to connect with you!
