During the 16 years that I have worked in IT I have been able to acquire knowledge about and experience with a variety of aspects of IT: I started with software development, and moved on to design, data modeling, reporting, system integration, requirements analysis, training, quality assurance, project management, and support. In the past few years I have been focusing on process and data analysis and business intelligence.

My professional experience in various IT areas has made clear to me that IT is more than technical solutions aimed at solving technical problems. Especially for complex business intelligence systems,

business challenges can only be resolved with an approach that takes into account process, quality, people, environment, and technology. Meaningfully processing and presenting vast amounts of data is becoming increasingly important for today’s business. The challenge of BI is not just technical, as technology is no means in itself. Business intelligence can only be valuable if it results in fulfilling actual information needs in such a way that business benefit is guaranteed.
