About me

What do you do at Microsoft?

I work on the nuts and bolts of the Windows Operating Systems as a Tier 3 Support Escalation Engineer. I work primarily with Fortune 500 companies (Premier contracts) to help resolve issues that occur at an operating system level. The job entails a lot of collaboration with other teams to reach a resolution to the problem but you also have to keep your technical skills sharp.

Why did you return to Microsoft after leaving your contract position here?
I was a contractor for a while and then went to work for several other companies including large aerospace companies to .com startups. I came to Microsoft because it is a wonderful place to work. In my eyes, Microsoft was also the epitome of your career. When you work in technology at other companies, you only get exposure to that environment. Here you get exposure to 5-6 different environments every week. Plus, you get to dig into the technologies deeper than you would anywhere else. Besides that, I love the laid back culture at Microsoft and the flexibility to work outside a set 9-5 schedule.

What would you tell others about working at Microsoft?
Never tell yourself no. The sky is the limit as far as your career goes. The beauty of being here at Microsoft is that you put your own ceiling up. You can go as high as you want to go. It's still the best place to show your talent and you get to work side by side with other highly talented people here.
