About me

Personal Notes
I'm a person with wide experience who has been on the leading edge of change for a long time.
Founder of "Kiwi Scrum" (LinkedIn)
Founder of "New Zealand Connection" (Xing)
I run a Team Downunder Network on Ryze
Find me on Ryze, LinkedIn, Viadeo, Academici, and TEN

Self Development: I began writing a journal in 1972, which became a substantial influence in my life. I do recommend that everyone does this. The Internet can be a wonderful tool for self development, but it's a tool not well used for that purpose.

Economics: I became a student of Economics. Development economics (employment) and innovation became a focus. Economists have an inadequate model for improving the world. Faulty economic models are weakening the USA, creating poverty around the world and destroying the global environment.

Education: I've been in and out of education. I'm uneasy about what we do to children in schools. Schools are necessary agents for indoctrination, sadly. De-schooling is a necessary task that too many people never undertake.

Internet: I've been an internet pioneer in many ways. Lots of lessons in that, most of them unpleasant. Peer to peer communication in general and social networking in particular are the key to building a world that is much improved. We MUST connect to each other. Then at least we have a chance of understanding what's happening and of collectively acting effectively.

Social Networks: I'm the Network Ambassador. I now find I'm involved as a builder of a social networks here on Xing and elsewhere. Now operating a business offering training in the use of social networks in your business and personal life. .

I've been rethinking my position on almost everything for most of my life. Our society is one where change is part of the burden we all carry. I am not surprised if you are saying that, "I've been doing those things too." We live in a global world, like it or not. Better to embrace that fact and get on with life, than try to hide from it.

An Open Future ©

Nothing is more important than developing the ability to learn and understand new things that enable you to change.
If you can change your future is open.
If you are incapable of change your future is closed.

This raises an old question, "To be or not to be." You choose which, if you have the courage.

I have a weblog on this topic "Open Future © Blog"

Business
My present business is new. I'm working with businesses on the tasks of staff training and management education focused on the need to be socially connected to build innovative and collaborative new futures. If you have a need in this area, why don't you drop me a line?

We are all faced with the prospect of re-inventing ourselves and reinventing our businesses too. That's what a CEO does. He/she carries the responsibility for re-inventing the business. My Innovation Network is one place to meet people who are exploring how to create a new (and open) future.

I'm a knowledge worker. If you are facing an uncertain future, write to me. If your business is sitting on the edge of a great opportunity, write to me. If you need to explore any new concept, write to me.

Innovation
My Network - Veech Innovation Network (Ryze)
http://veech-network.ryze.com/

The future of the world is dependant on our ability to understand and use data. Learning is that ability to process the data and derive meaning from it. Innovation is the process of understanding how the data should be used to the best effect. Innovation is the process of conceiving new ways to behave and new things to do. Learning and innovation are the keys to the future.

Innovative ideas arise best out of a hothouse of debate. The internet allows that hothouse to exist in your home or office. All you need to do is become an active participant. One of the best ways to help yourself to be a better thinker and to be more innovative is to keep a journal, workbook, or commonplace book. Record and reinforce key ideas. All real innovation takes a LONG time, so if you are going to be successful get started soon. Please feel free to join the Veech Innovation Network.
