About me

Summary
-------------
I am working in feature film and commercials since 1992. After graduation I shifted occupation and worked as an Alias PowerAnimator trainer and moving from there into CGI and VFX for commercials and TV.

In 1996 I joined Accom Inc. where I helped to build the first Virtual Studio for the BBC. In 1997 I joined the High-Tech-Center Babelsberg to help building up the traditional Babelsberg Film Studios with focus on CGI and VFX for feature film.

Turning freelance in 1999 I worked as a VFX Supervisor and Digital Artist. I focused on CG animated feature film. Which led 2006 into the position of CGI- and Co-Director at Toons‘n’Tales for the feature film “Jasper - Journey to the End of the World”. Starting in 2009 I worked on a variety of stereoscopic productions (S3D).

I was born Oct. 18, 1965 in Hamburg, Germany and speak German (native) and English (fluent).

Specialties
• Look development: I have a trained eye for color, camera, animation and editing work
• Management: Thanks to my extensive production experience I have a well-founded knowledge of planning, structuring and leading successful productions.
• Problem solving: Over the years I developed a very good instinct for technological and creative solutions for the daily production problems
• Artist: I consider myself a generalist with an emphasis towards camera work, modeling and layout as well as look and color related trades like shading, rendering and compositing

Supervisor
---------------
As a Supervisor I not only feel very comfortable with creative leadership but I can also build on deep technical understanding of workflows and processes, coupled with a good instinct for anticipating the problems before they arise. Of course not all problems can be foreseen, so over time I have become skilled in dealing with daily problems in an efficient and sustainable manner. I have a well-founded knowledge base due to my extensive production experience which includes several successful CGI and VFX productions, among them a variety of stereoscopic productions (3DS) where I served as CG-Supervisor and DoP.

Director
-----------
Over the years as an Artist and Supervisor I picked up many skills and learned about timing, story and look and eventually was ask to direct. So in the past years I had the opportunity to work as a Director for some smaller productions and to be Co-Director on the feature film "Jasper".
I have in-depth understanding of the workflow and the possibilities of the tools in CG. I got well a trained eye for color-, camera-, animation- and editing-work.

Pipeline
-----------
I worked on a good many productions where I either was part of the implementation process of the pipeline. Or I was responsible for the whole production and therefore had a leading role in the design and set up of the pipeline and the production management.

• Pipeline Generally: I design, plan and integrate pipelines and provide workflow and process definition as well as database creation and integration. This is either done on customers' in-house resources (programmer and code) or with the help of external tools and programmers. I also created pipeline workflows for CGI, VFX and stereoscopic productions.
• Milestone Pipeline: The feature film “Jasper - Journey to the End of the World”. Where five companies, in three countries and six cities had to work together. I designed a pipeline where all the data was hosted on a central server and the data and task transfer was handled by pipeline tools and via our database that we developed ourselves.
• Maya Pipeline: I have a tools-set which allows me to set up a simple but fully functional Maya pipeline in about a month. This pipeline will supply a GUI for asset and shot management, file history, publishing and file locking. I also provide work-stage and process definition. The Maya pipeline uses geometry caching to transfer animation to rendering. And can have semi automatic render file creation. It will also include a simple task management tool and a Python connection to Nuke. The setup can also deal with stereoscopic productions. The pipeline will be setup in MEL and Python. An optional integration of SQLite DB is possible.

Specialties
• Database: Excel, Filemaker, Shotgun, Entity-Relationship-Modeling and SQL
• Scripting: MEL, Python and SQLite
