About me

Dr. Kevin Hinshaw, an ophthalmologist in the St. Louis, Missouri area, oversees Eye Specialists of West County, PC. He also has served as Regional Director, Board Member, and President of the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

A Naval Reserve Officer for 13 years, Dr. Kevin Hinshaw served on active duty as the Senior Staff Ophthalmologist at the Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. During his service, he also functioned as the Quality Improvement Coordinator to ensure proper care and service. He communicated with the Resource Quality Management Board at the hospital as a Physician Representative. Throughout his time with the Naval Reserve, he trained with notable specialists in photorefractive keratectomy and radial keratotomy. Dr. Kevin Hinshaw was promoted to Acting Department Head of the Ophthalmology Department from 1994 to 1995. He received the Navy Commendation Medal in recognition of his leadership in this position. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Naval Reserve in 1996 at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Dr. Kevin Hinshaw possesses certification in a wide range of medical practices, including basic life support and advanced cardiac life support. Dr. Hinshaw also is recognized to use the Summit Excimer Laser System and Alcon Summit/Autonomous Excimer Laser System for surgical procedures. In addition, he is qualified to work with the VISX S4 Excimer Laser. He trained in LASIK following his service with the Naval Reserve.

Aside from his career in eye care, Dr. Kevin Hinshaw enjoys staying current with the latest developments in medical software and devices. He takes great pleasure in boating and woodworking.
