Laurent Bugnion

Laurent works as Senior Director for Europe for IdentityMine (http://www.identitymine.com), one of the leading companies (and Gold Partner) for Microsoft technologies such as Windows 8, Windows Presentation Foundation, Silverlight, Surface, Windows 7, Windows Phone 7  and generally User Experience. Laurent was IdentityMine's European branch's first employee, based in Zurich Switzerland, where he lives with his wife Chi Meei and his two daughters Alise and Laeticia.

In October 2010, his book "Silverlight 4 Unleashed" was published at Sams. This book is an advanced tutorial about Silverlight and filled with code samples and illustration in full color.

Before that, in October 2008, the book "Silverlight 2 Unleashed" was also published at Sams.

Originally an Electronics engineer, he achieved a postgrade study in Software Engineering in 1999. In the past, he worked at Siemens from 1996, where he helped introduce WPF and other .NET 3.5 technologies worldwide. His job involved developing with the mentioned technologies, training and coaching his colleagues, coordinating and integrating the graphics designers' work, and relationships with Microsoft. Prior to that, he wrote embedded C/C++, and then moved to desktop computers in Java, JavaScript and eventually .NET/HTML/JavaScript (desktop and ASP.NET).

Privately, Laurent code in Windows 8, XAML, Silverlight, WPF, ASP.NET MVC and ASP.NET. He blogs on http://blog.galasoft.ch and writes on http://www.galasoft.ch where he publishes articles, prototypes and demos related to the mentioned technologies. In 2008, he earned a MCTS for WPF. 2012 is his 6th year as a Microsoft MVP (Silverlight). He is also the author of the well-known open source framework MVVM Light for Windows 8, WPF, Silverlight and Windows Phone 7.
