About me

My attitude

Active by nature, I like to get around, meet people and do different things. I like to be involved in several projects at once in order to keep my mind stimulated. I like to read, write and talk constantly. Adaptable and inquisitive, I am open to new ideas and experiences.

I have a creative and lively imagination. I am capable to manage any ongoing project and to be practical and efficient at it. Careful thinker, I am known for being persistent and tenacious in reaching goals. When people expect a lot of me, I respond positively and work hard in order to maintain their respect.

Considerate of the feelings of others, I take care of the sick, wounded and helpless. Intuitive, I am quite clairvoyant or psychic. My feelings about others are deep and intense. When I like someone, I do so totally.

My experience as Web Project Manager

As Web Project Manager, I am in charge of the setting/follow up of existing and new large/database-driven web projects and the update/optimization/promotion of Portal/Internet/Intranet sites belonging to a dozen of public/private international organizations.

Expertise gained as Web Project Manager
• Planning, leading and tracking the web project from start to completion;
• Coordinating and motivating multidisciplinary web project teams;
• Completing various web projects based on agreed budget, time frame, and quality standards

Special EU Award
One of my main achievements was the management of a new and large European Commission Intranet project -- from conception through to delivery. This web site (entitled 'Web Publishers Support') has been recognised by the Secretariat General as a procedural model for all European Commission services. The aim of this site is to help publishers, editors, content providers, anyone who desires to publish online content, to create, maintain and update web pages on EUROPA or on the DG Infso & Media external Internet line, using a decentralized publication procedure. This support provides structured guidance, useful web practice examples, and a wealth of information in conformity with the Information Providers Guide (IPG).

60 Intranet sites in 6 months
Another challenging project I managed (conjointly with another PM) was the re-design of the Information Society Directorate General Intranet web site. The main difficulty consisted in harmonizing sub-sites developed by each of the fifty units individually. Based on a proven project management methodology (Agile), the new guidelines (common look and feel, site/sub-site navigation structure, HTML validation…) were successfully implemented in a 6-month period of time. In addition, a training session program was organized and delivered to webmasters helping them mastering the "Top 10 Web Quality Card".

Well versed in the latest trends on the web 2.0
Convinced of the huge potential of Web 2.0, I keep exploring its boundaries to see how far it can be stretched: Rich Internet application (RIA), Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), Google Web Toolkit (GWT), Adobe Flash, Service-oriented architecture (SOA), Web Feed, Web Services, API, Mash-Up, Social networking, Blog, Folksonomy, Tag clouds, Wiki, Podcast, Recommendation, Semantic Web, Mobile ...

Companies that have placed trust in my web consultancy services include:
Attitudeweb • Baker McKenzie/European Law Centre • Broadnet • Eurobias • European Commission • European Fine Paper Producers • European Organisation for Research & Treatment of Cancer • European Publication Paper Producers • Holcim • Laffineur Law Firm • Park Malou School • SME Focus • SWIFT

My background as Business & Functional Analyst

Business Analyst
Within SWIFT (Customer Services), I took the lead to propose and work out ideas aiming at improving the ease of use, level of automation and performance of the web content management system (Interwoven: TeamSite and LiveSite). Concretely, I turned ideas into concrete project proposals, wrote scope documents, collected requirements from a variety of customers and stakeholders, documented and prioritized specifications, followed up ongoing projects throughout their life cycle, and provided guidance to other team members.

Functional Analyst
Within a management consulting firm (confidential, Proprietary Knowledge Management), I worked with project managers, business sponsors and developers, defined & wrote project functional specifications, analyzed existing proprietary knowledge pieces or applications (contained in Excel files and relational database) to determine the target application and what changes should be performed (logical data model, different components of the application, etc.) and helped with the coordination and the realization of testing activities (writing of test plan, monitoring of QA team progress, etc.).

My past experience in marketing: 1988-2000

After 4 years as Senior Account at the Yellow Pages Advertising Division at ITT, I worked 8 years as Business Unit Manager for Rossel & Co (Le Soir, Belgian newspaper) -- developing strategies, drafting annual marketing plans, initiating new services, organizing events, participating in Congresses, negotiating contracts…
