About Manar Abu Abed
My name is Manar Abu Abed and I am a doctoral candidate in Clinical Pharmacology at the University Hospital in Göttingen, Germany. Prior to matriculating in Göttingen, I studied Pharmacy at the Freie Universität in Berlin.
Now that my dissertation work is drawing to a close, I am seeking post-graduate employment in Turkey or in the Middle East especially in the field of Clinical Research. I am fluent in Arabic and have already started learning Turkish and am committed to becoming fluent in the language. Furthermore, my years of experience in both basic and applied pharmacology research would make me a valuable asset to your team.
I will be defending my doctoral thesis at the end of May. My doctoral work consists of two main projects. First, I analyzed the effects of commonly-occurring genetic polymorphisms of organic cation transporters and identified the drug substrates of such transporters by using a combination of well-established and newly-developed protocols. For this work I used methods such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and cell culture to determine whether organic cationic drugs like O-desmethylvenlafaxine are transported by specific transporters in the kidney. Second, I laid the groundwork for a clinical study that assessed the effects of patient education on outcomes during anticoagulant drug therapy.
During my time as a Pharmacy student at the Freie Universität in Berlin, I worked in several pharmaceutical companies in different departments. Most of my pharmaceutical work has been in the field of Quality Assurance, but I am also interested in research and development.
If you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I hope we have the opportunity to discuss some open positions and my qualifications either in person or by phone or Skype. Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
