Marc Buyens

Since 1999, I work as an independent management consultant. I am an engineer and before starting my own business, I had a 20+ years career in ICT. Married. Two children. Two cats.

My current business context is to a high degree split-brain. The majority of the work I do is traditional management consulting work (often in subcontracting) for large organisations in industries such as energy, telecommunications, finance and ICT. This is where I get some money. Strange as it might seem, my participation in OpenBC is NOT to look for opportunities in the same direction although, of course, I am an expert.

My real interests are new management paradigms, technological evolution, new organisational forms and various other things that top-management is not interested in. This is where I spend my thinking.

Some personal beliefs:
- Youngsters are adults
- “If everyone has to think outside the box, maybe it’s the box that needs fixing”, Malcolm Gladwell
- Passion, creativity, is OK but unfortunately, I don’t sell it
- Non-locality is OK, even for engineers
