I organise things, solve difficult problems and give advice. I'm highly creative, interested in everything and understand an eclectic mix of business, science and art. I would make a terrific ‘consiglieri’ or Grand Vizier. Because I know people and what makes them tick but I also know how to make organisations work and extract the best profits for the manifold stakeholders. But I’m at my very best operating behind the scenes. You need to allow me the space and authority to do what I do for you. And that means I have to work in a relationship of mutual trust with my direct ‘sponsors’. In the case of family companies I am adept at working with the mixed emotional and financial goals of owner/managers, so very different from the mindset of a quoted company or private corporation with mixed shareholders. I can be CEO or take a back seat as an advisor. And I'm just as happy being responsible for a group of subsidiary MDs or CEOs as I am being the Chairman's advisor with no direct reports. I'm a writer and a speaker, and an exceedingly good one at that. Forcing organisations through change, often a painful and difficult process taking an unusual set of skills. My focus is on the owners, family or external investors, and executive management. I will often work one-on-one with the Chair or Family members as well as VCs or other significant shareholders. My skill is in turning their need into executive action. I have international P&L experience in US, UK, France, Germany and UAE and experience in Marketing, HR & Corporate Development.

I'm a biker and I love riding in the desert. I have a deep and abiding interest in Economics, Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy. I love to read. I like text books on all subjects but especially the history of places I've never yet visited and anthropology and sociology and psychology. I like science fiction and detective novels. I hate 'action' books. Big movie buff and deep love of all musical forms except Sinatra style cabaret jazz. Particularly fond of Country music and Ancient and Baroque and Light Opera. I love the ballet. Don't really get 'theatre'. TV mostly leaves me cold though I do enjoy police procedurals in their manifold forms. Can't do TV till it's dark outside nor in public spaces. Love to travel and learn new languages and about different cultures. Spent much time in US and toured in 37 contiguous states and Alaska.
