Takaful (Life Insurance) System Project Manager .
As it is involving different plans and long term investmetns at different funds applying different mechanisms, Life Insurance is considered to be one of the most sophisticated business that can be automated.
Proudly, I've been given that project as a turn-key task early 1999.
. The main objectives of the the Takaful System was to facilitate issueing life insurance policies for NCCI
clients either under saving or level term plans. Then, customers collected premiums are to be invested into
different funds and those investements must be managed by the company. POS agents were given a special
version of the the system front end that allows them to issue proposals in-situ.
. Managing a group of multi-national developers I was responsible for:
o Analyzing and designing different modules that form a complete Islamic Life Insurance System
(Takaful).
o Create a complete Preject Plan that shows all related tasks, estimated costs, required resources,
deadlines and milestones.
o Follow up with the team day-to-day development activities.
o Receiving, reviewing, approving and delploying the completed tasks.
. The project has finished in 2003, however, ongoing enhancement and maintainance are still part of my
duties.
Bancassurance System Project Manager
• NCCI had deals with banks according to which banks could sell NCCI life insurance business to their
customers and directly debit their accounts. NCCI should develop and deploy the software necessary to
automate this task to the banks’ branches around the Kingdom.
• The Bancassurance system has been initiated in 2000 and assigned to me as a complete project that must be intigrated with our Takaful Back-End System.
• The analysis, design and major part of development had been conducted by myself according to predefined
project plan.
• Other team members had contributed to the development phase under my supervision.
• The system finished in 2004, however ongoing enhancement and maintainance are still part of my duties.
OLAP (On Line Analytical Processin) BI System Project Manager
• Adequate performance measurment is a key success for any organization, that’s “If you can’t measure it,
you can’t manage it!”. A group of around 25 high impact financial and production reports had been
designed by NCCI finance and business people and delivered to our IT dept for development.
• The reports are to measure and analyse the company performance in different dimensions, ie, by segment,
by Region, by Production .. etc and in different time series also to provide all financial statements such as
SOFA and Profit & Loss. The solution required must be fully dynamic, fast with zero downtime.
• The project has been assigned to me and after studying it, I found that the best technology to use is the
OLAP that is to be build on BI (Business Intelligence) platform. That technology provides the power of
online analysis, multi-dimensional cubing of data, slice & dice, drill down, drill through as well as data
mining—the forecasting and prediction engine.
• With full proud, I was one of the first who learned and created a business intelligence solution in the
Kingdom, this fact has been quoted by our General Manager in year 2001. The developed solution had
been met with full recognition, satisfaction and appreciation from all company users on either strategical,
tactical or operational levels.
